Mary Kay: Hi Dave, so tell us about instant messaging.

Dave Powell: Instant messaging is the immediate transmission of messages over computer networks. This often involves software that displays a user's buddy list of friends, family and coworkers, and immediately displays messages on recipient's screens.

Mary Kay: All right, Dave. What are some of the newest technological trends in regards to instant messaging?

Dave: Instant messages can now be sent between mobile devices, much like text messages. Also, web cameras can now be used, allowing people to see each other while sending and receiving messages.

Mary Kay: Oh, way cool. Thanks, Dave. Have a great afternoon!

Dave: Thank you. You too, talk to you soon!

Mary Kay: This is Mary Kay Lofurno, Marketing Director at SyberWorks. Thanks for listening to episode 86 of the e-Learning Lingo Podcast.

This week, Dave Powell talked about instant messaging. The episode 86 podcast audio and transcript will be posted on the e-Learning Lingo Podcast blog.

Next time on the e-Learning Lingo Podcast, we will talk about a term used in education and training. Until that time, have a great week!
