Last week, Dave Powell talked about the e-Learning development tool “Flash.” This week he defines a tool used in learning theory, “Hierarchical Analysis.” So, I ask you, do you know your e-Learning Lingo?

Mary Kay: Hi, Dave, so tell our audience what is “Hierarchical Analysis?”

Dave Powell: “Hierarchical Analysis” is a technique for identifying the important secondary skills that are needed to achieve a primary objective and for learning how each skill relates to the others. For each secondary skill that is identified in the analysis, the instructor asks what must the student know how to do to perform this specific sub-skill.

Mary Kay: Thanks, Dave. Have a good afternoon.

Dave: You too. Talk with you soon.
