Announcer: The e-Learning Lingo Podcast.

Mary Kay Lofurno: Hello, and welcome to the 12th episode of the e-Learning Lingo Podcast series. My name is Mary Kay Lofurno, and I'm the Marketing Director here at SyberWorks, and your host today.

Last week Dave Powell, our SyberWorks Documentarian, defined benchmarking. This week, he will describe the learning disability amblyopia. So I ask you, do you know your e-Learning Lingo?

[theme music]

Mary Kay: Hi, Dave. So tell our audience, what is amblyopia?

Dave Powell: Amblyopia, also known as lazy eye, is a condition that normally develops in early childhood, where a person does not fully use one eye. It usually results from either a misalignment of a child's eyes, or a difference in focusing ability between their eyes. In either case, the image of the weaker eye is suppressed. With early diagnosis and treatment, the sight in the lazy eye can be restored.

Mary Kay: Thanks, Dave.

Dave: My pleasure. Talk to you soon.

Mary Kay: This is Mary Kay Lofurno, Marketing Director at SyberWorks. Thanks for listening to episode 12 of the e-Learning Lingo Podcast. This week, Dave Powell defined the meaning of amblyopia.

The episode 12 podcast audio and transcript will be posted on the e-Learning Lingo blog. Please feel free to join the discussion by leaving us your comments by phone, web-based voice mail, or blog posting. We look forward to hearing from you.

Next time on the e-Learning Lingo Podcast, we will talk about a term used in instructional design. Until that time, have a great week!
