Mary Kay Lofurno: Hello, this is Mary Kay Lofurno, Marketing Director here at SyberWorks. Welcome to the 118th episode of the e-Learning Lingo Podcast Series. Last week, Dave Powell talked about fishbowl discussions. This week, Dave Powell defines Basadur Simplex.

So I ask you, do you know your e-Learning Lingo?

Mary Kay: Hi, Dave. So tell us about the Basadur Simplex.

Dave Powell: Invented by Dr. Min Basadur, the Basadur Simplex is a step by step approach to creative problem solving. It emphasizes understanding problems themselves before developing solutions.

Mary Kay: OK. So give us the lowdown. How does the process work, Dave?

Dave: Its basic phases include finding the problem or problems, finding facts, identifying core problem issues, looking for solution ideas, evaluating and selecting ideas, planning action, gaining acceptance, and taking action.

The Basadur Simplex is not intended to be carried out once, but rather as a cycle of creative problem solving that leads to continuous improvement.

Mary Kay: OK, Dave, thanks. Have a good afternoon.

Dave: You, too. Talk to you soon.

Mary Kay: This is Mary Kay Lofurno, Marketing Director at SyberWorks. Thanks for listening to Episode 118 of the e-Learning Lingo Podcast. This week, Dave Powell talked about Basadur Simplex. The Episode 118 podcast audio and transcript will be posted on the e-Learning Lingo Podcast blog.
