He recently wrote an article called, “Need a Learning Content Management System?” I thought we would talk with him about it.

Mary Kay: Hi Bob! It’s great to have you back here on the SyberWorks e-Learning Podcast Series. How have you been?

Bob Goldschneider: I’m fine. How are you?

Mary Kay: Very well, thank you. All right, let’s get to it. I know you recently wrote an article, “Need a Learning Content Management System?” Tell us about the main feature set that you see in a learning content management system.

Bob: Gee, there’s more features in a learning content management system than most people really need. An LCMS is mainly used when people want to collaborate or have multiple authors working on the same content. And the LCMS provides a set of features for searching, acquiring the content, updating, modifying that content, and making it available to be played in a learning management system. Today, many learning management systems incorporate the features of a learning content management system, or they have acquired learning content management systems and integrated them into their standard LMS feature set.

Mary Kay: All right. Well, Bob, that sounds great. Is there anything else you would like to share from your article?

Bob: No, I think I’ll let people read the article and make their own interpretations. I think that people who want to go and track and manage and develop training today, most learning management systems meet their needs without having to have a learning content management system to support them. Plus many people develop content on their desktop. In that case, they just need to be able to upload that content and play it in a learning management system.

Mary Kay: All right, Bob. That sounds good. Thanks for joining us today.

Bob: Well, it was nice to be here. You guys have a great day.

Mary Kay: OK. Thank you. Folks, please download Bob’s article and read it. There’s a lot of great information in there that can help you learn more about learning content management systems. It’s located in the SyberWorks Media Center under the e learning articles section. Thanks for joining us today and have a great week. Thanks for listening to our podcast today on learning content management systems with Bob Goldschneider, Director of Business Development here at SyberWorks on our e Learning Podcast Series. Have a great day.
