Mary Kay: Hi Dana, great to see you. It has been a while since we have had you here on the SyberWorks e-Learning Podcast series? So, how have you been?
Dana Fine: Super and busy. How are you?
Mary Kay: Doing great. All right, lets get to it. Why did you write an article on Best Practices for Building Student Friendly Courses?
Dana: Often I am asked: what would make a good course in general, what are the best practices for developing a course, how do we keep student interest in a course. For all those reasons, I wrote this Best Practices for Building Student Friendly Courses based on our experience over the past 10 years in developing courses that keep the student interested.
Mary Kay: OK. That sounds good. So without giving the whole story away Dana, can you give us a few tips on developing student friendly courses?
Dana: Sure. One of the biggest issues that people have is how to keep the student interested in the course. And you have to go beyond the idea of quiz questions and in lesson checks, where you are just using questions and answers to have the student interact with the course.
There are many other ways to have the student interact with your course and if you download the article, you will find that and other information on how to make a student friendly course.
Mary Kay: All right. Well people should absolutely download your article and read it. It is located in the SyberWorks Media Center under the “e-Learning Articles” section. Dana, I know you are super busy, so I will let you go.
This is great information. Thanks for joining us today and have a great week.
Dana: Thanks. Bye.
Mary Kay: Thanks for listening to our podcast today on “Best Practices for Building Student Friendly Courses” with Dana Fine, Senior Instructional Designer and Implementation Consultant here at SyberWorks on our e-Learning Podcast series. Have a great day.
