Mary Kay Lofurno: Welcome to the next edition of the SyberWorks e-Learning Podcast Series. My name is Mary Kay Lofurno and I am the Marketing Director here at SyberWorks and your host today.

SyberWorks specializes in custom e-learning solutions, learning management systems and custom e-learning development for corporations, governments and nonprofits.

In this edition, we are going to be talking with Al Lemieux, Senior Designer here at SyberWorks. Al recently wrote an article “10 Tips for Capturing e-Learning Audio,” and I thought we might get some tips from him on this subject.

Mary Kay: Hi Al, how have you been?

Al Lemieux: Great. And how are you?

Mary Kay: Good. All right, let’s get to it. It has been well documented that having audio in e-learning courses improves learner engagement and retention. Al, can you tell us a little bit about your article?

Al: The article gives some tips on recording better audio. It talks about audio hardware and software, and some dos and don’ts of audio editing.

Mary Kay: OK. So you mentioned some tips; can you just pull out a few for us?

Al: Well, most people just use whatever they have when it comes to recording narration, for example. But, there are limitations to built-in microphones and standard audio editing software that comes with a typical PC. So, I spent some time directing the reader to tools that are better suited for recording better sound.

Mary Kay: OK, great. Al, this is awesome information and I am going to stop here because I know you want people to read your article. Al’s original article can be found in the Media Center on the SyberWorks website. Al, is there anything else you would like to share with our listeners about your topic today before we close out our time together?

Al: Sure. Recording equipment in software can be a little expensive, but there are mid-level solutions that are perfect for anyone who are serious about e-learning and the investment pays off in the quality of the sound.

Mary Kay: Sounds good Al. As always, it is great to see you.

Al: Thank you.

Mary Kay: Thanks for listening to our podcast today on “Tips for Capturing e-Learning Audio” with Al Lemieux, Senior Designer here at SyberWorks on the SyberWorks e-Learning Podcast Series. Have a great day.
